Hafzan Taher

Hafzan Taher, one of the founding partners of Soemadipradja & Taher, has more than 30 years of legal experience, including a period of secondment at the Sydney office of leading Australian law firm Freehills where he was exposed to a wide range of commercial work in the Australian jurisdiction.
Hafzan graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia in 1981 and practised in a number of prominent Indonesian law firms up until 1991, when he, together with Rahmat Soemadipradja, established Soemadipradja & Taher.
Hafzan’s main areas of practice include litigation and dispute resolution.
Hafzan also advises major Indonesian conglomerates and multinational clients on a wide range of Indonesian and international law matters, including capital markets, banking and finance, corporate restructuring and insolvency, general commercial, intellectual property and mergers and acquisitions.
Hafzan is registered as a legal consultant with the Indonesian Capital Markets and Financial Institutions Supervisory Board (BAPEPAM-LK). He is also a registered mediator with the Indonesian Mediation Center (PMN), and is a licensed Advocate and a member of the Indonesian Advocates Association (PERADI).
Over the years, Hafzan has also added to his professional development by taking courses such as a Summer Course on Comparative Law given by the Southwestern Legal Foundation at the University of Texas in Dallas in 1986 and courses at the University Technology Sydney in 1991.
Hafzan is recognised by The Asia Pacific Legal 500 and by PLC Which Lawyer as a leading dispute resolution lawyer and by Chambers Asia as one of the leading individuals in dispute resolution.
